Develop. Grow. Express.
This class is a fun environment where youth learn self-discipline, self-respect, and self-defense. They will develop team work and individual skills such as, balance and coordination. It's a place where they get to yell, kick, punch, and generally have fun while gaining new skills and becoming mentally and physically stronger.
Tests for youth are approximately every 4 to 6 months.
During that time youth are challenged to earn 5 Goal Stripes per rank to show their progression, before testing for their next belt. This helps ensure that students are well prepared for their physical and written tests.
Each day is a progression towards a student's next rank, culminating towards a challenging physical and mental test for each belt level. An official test for rank is a way to show our student's mental and physical growth.
TO EARN RANK, STUDENTS MUST:
1. PASS PHYSICAL TEST
Forms (sequences of several techniques)
One-step sparring (pre-arranged techniques with a partner)
Self-defense techniques (with partner)
Breaking boards (dependent on rank and age)
Other aspects to be decided by the proctor
2. PASS WRITTEN TEST
A study guide is provided for each rank
Philosophy, terminology, and history of Tang Soo Do.
Cumulative as the ranks progress.
Ex: Testing for Green belt, student must know material from Orange and White belt test.
3. DEMONSTRATE IN CLASS:
Dedication to training
Willingness to learn and try new things
Effort toward self-improvement
*As the student advances in rank, the requirements increase.
Our school teaches Tang Soo Do, a traditional martial art, that strongly values integrity, respect, and self-control. Be a part of our school where your child is able to build confidence, concentration, and self-esteem in a safe, fun, and focused atmosphere. While you are at work or running errands your children will be learning balance, focus, calm, and having a fun time training!
Our Tang Soo Do school is a member of the World Tang Soo Do Association (WTSDA). If your child wants, they can participate in low stress tournaments with other member studios and if you move to a location that has a member studio, their rank will be recognized.
